Ębí Chop Bar is a full service restaurant and pop up dinner series dedicated to bringing cuisine from the entire African Diaspora to Miami.

Led by Chef Cleophus Hethington, a South Florida Native, and a chef alum of notable restaurants like Alter, Four Seasons Surf Club, Jean George’s Matador Room & Market; every dish tells a story and charts the food journeys of African people and their descendants, from Africa to the United States to Latin America to the Caribbean.

Paired with cocktails, wines, and drinks made with the finest African, Latin, and Caribbean liquors, Ębí is a dining experience worth adding to your bucket list and a powerful celebration of the foods of the African Diaspora.

CHEF OPHUS

Partner / Executive Chef, Ębí

Cleophus J. Hethington (aka Chef Ophus) is a Chef with 7+ years of professional culinary experience at James Beard nominated restaurants, early startup restaurants, hotels and private catering for large events. Working for Michelin star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the restaurants Matador Room & Market inside Miami Beach Edition Hotel, and a former chef at the Four Seasons Surf Club, Alter, and Cypress Room, the South Florida native has earned his stripes in the top kitchens of Miami.

Catering his own events at Soho House and Dinner Lab, along with his recent leadership as the Executive Chef at Shelley’s Oyster Bar in South Miami, Chef Ophus’ food has been featured in GQ, Zagat, Eater, Urban Daddy, Chat Chow, Miami Herald Indulge Magazine, and Miami New Times. The U.S. Navy Veteran (Hospital Corpsman) is a strong and respected leader in the kitchen with high standards in preparation, creativity, presentation, and efficiency.

ARIELLE PALMER

Partner, Ębí

Arielle Loren Palmer is a Harvard-trained business strategist with 10+ years of experience in marketing and business development. As the CEO of the Arielle Loren Agency, she and her team manage dozens of projects on behalf of her clients and build out high ROI marketing campaigns. Under her leadership, her clients and campaigns have been featured in FastCompany, New York Times, TechCrunch, Huffington Post, and more.

She has been an invited speaker to SXSW and BlogHer on entrepreneurship and specializes in digital marketing, business operations, profit planning, and a variety of strategies that propel early stage startups. She holds a both master’s degree in Management and graduate certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard University, graduate certificate in International Business Management from Georgetown University, and a bachelor’s degree in Social and Cultural Analysis and a certificate in Producing from New York University.
